TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – A pre-dawn explosion damaged a commercial building in Barangay Dampas, Tagbilaran City, on Friday, triggering a power outage and scattering debris in the area.

The blast occurred at around 2:15 a.m. at the Bonchon Chicken restaurant. The restaurant is located near two other food stores along CPG North Avenue Extension.

The explosion triggered a total blackout from Dampas to the City Hall and Capitol Valley areas. But power was restored at 3:10 a.m.

Clearing operations were ongoing, with glass shards and rubble scattered across the site. The cause of the explosion at the restaurant was still under investigation.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

Officials urged the public early Friday to avoid the vicinity while operations and investigations continue, and reminded residents to ensure safe electrical connections and practice fire prevention measures./coa
