MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) dismissed social media posts claiming that police held an operation at the Davao City home of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

A statement circulating online claimed that 30 operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and 90 Special Action Force (SAF) personnel were monitored at the former president’s home.

The information supposedly came from Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte, the son of the former chief executive.

“He (CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III) denied na mayroon silang operation sa Davao,” PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing at Camp Crame on Thursday.

(He denied that they have an operation in Davao.)

“Hindi natin alam kung saan hinugot o kinuha ng ating kagalang-galang na congressman na nandoon yung mga tauhan ng CIDG to conduct operation,” she wondered.

(We do not know where the honorable congressman got his information that the CIDG personnel were there to conduct an operation.)

“He (Torre) has no knowledge whatsoever about the operation allegedly ng CIDG doon sa Davao,” she explained.

(He has no knowledge whatsoever about the operation allegedly by the CIDG in Davao.)

When asked if the PNP also refutes the report on the presence of SAF at Duterte’s home, Fajardo answered yes.
