Canada's GDP was down 0.2 per cent in February, according to Statistics Canada data, following growth of 0.4 per cent in January.

While goods-producing industries pulled the economy up in January, Statistics Canada says it saw a decline of 0.6 per cent overall for February.

In particular, the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector saw the steepest decline of 2.5 per cent.
