SINGAPORE - MRTplatform screen doors at15 underground stationswill be progressively upgraded over roughly1½ years from August 2025.

Train service and frequency at these stations on theNorth-South Line (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL)will not be affected, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in a social media post onJuly 28.

The works to replace components of the doorsare expected to be completed byend-March 2027,and come as part of ongoing efforts to renew and improve reliability of the rail network here,said LTA.

The existing doors have been in service formore than 30 years, LTAadded.

All major parts, including the doors’pneumatic system, doorway drive system, and controls and mechanism components, will be replaced.

No more than threescreen doors per platform will be worked on at any one time, the transport authority said.

The works will start atMarina Bay station from August to December 2025. This will be followed byBraddell, Toa Payoh, Bugis and Lavender stations from December 2025 to April 2026.

FromApril to August 2026, the upgrades will take place atSomerset, Tanjong Pagar, Outram Parkstations, and on theNSL platforms at City Hall station.

TheEWL platforms at City Hall and Raffles Placestations will see upgrades along with those atOrchard and Dhoby Ghaut stationsfromAugust to December 2026.

The last platforms to undergo the works are atNovena, Newton, Tiong Bahru, and theNSL platforms at Raffles PlacefromDecember 2026 to March 2027.

“These upgrades will help ensure the (platform screen doors) continue to operate safely and efficiently for years to come,” LTA said.

Commuters are advised to look out for signage at affected stations, and to board and alight at operational platform screen doors.
