SINGAPORE – National water agency PUB issued warnings of possible flash floods in parts of Toa Payoh and Upper Serangoon amid heavy rain on the afternoon of May 1, although none occurred as the rain eased by about 4.30pm.

In posts on social media platform X, PUB had advised the public to avoid the junction of Toa Payoh Lorong 1 and Toa Payoh Lorong 2 for an hour from about 3.50pm.The same area had been highlighted as a flood risk the previous afternoon, on April 30, although no floods were eventually reported either.

At 4.08pm on May 1, the agency also asked the public to avoid Lorong Gambir in Upper Serangoon for the next hour due the heavy rain.

PUB had earlier said heavy rain was expected over many areas of Singapore from 3.30pm to 5pm.However, it said in a post at 4.31pm that the rain had eased.
